Position: UI/UX Designer

Location: Woodlawn, MD

Description of Work:
Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Derive business processes, analyze user needs, assist in requirements definition, design browser-based interfaces, and design and conduct usability testing.
  • Elicit business goals and user needs from stakeholders.
  • Document user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations.
  • Perform industry research regarding UI element best practices and limitations.
  • Synthesize UI element designs across taking into account best practices in UX, accessibility, and accounting for variation in device types, device functionality, screen sizes, screen orientations, input modalities (keyboard, mouse, touch), languages, and cultural norms.
  • Create design system assets, including stencils, helper objects, etc, for design software.
  • Communicate and teach designers on project teams how to maximize use of the design system.
  • Establish uniform design consistency across many design systems within an enterprise.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 Years of relevant work experience OR Master’s degree and 5 Years of relevant work experience as a User Experience Designer or a minimum of 11 years related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct Interaction/Interface design experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience documenting user requirements and producing screen designs, and design recommendations
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience creating design systems assets for use at an enterprise level.
  • Experience with Axure RP prototyping software
  • Expert knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines (Section 508, WCAG)
  • Experience with responsive design and proven understanding of design for multiple device types and inputs
  • Must be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green card holder)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Markdown
  • Experience with Git
  • Knowledge of assistive technology software (JAWS, Dragon, Magic, ZoomText)
  • Knowledge of disparate operating systems, including Windows, MacOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, Linux
  • Knowledge of disparate browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge
  • Experience with Pega Customer Experience software
  • Experience with the Kanban methodology
  • Prior experience supporting government agencies
  • Understanding of Section 508 and its requirements regarding design
